a double dose of dots

There's no pattern like polka dots!

These cute little spots can spice up a simple outfit, pair well with other patterns or even mix with other polka dot pieces for a fabulously over-the-time dotted ensemble. Today I choose the latter by mixing five polka dot pieces into one outfit (2 bangles, tights, dress and blouse) take a peak!
Remember when I confessed my new love of layering is yesterday's post? well I wasn't kidding and this post is the proof!
I am obviously drawn to black and white polka dot silk because I have two (well actually five... don't judge me!) pieces constructed from this fabric.
So for this look I layered a cowl neck blouse over a Jessica McClintock polka dot prom dress to give the dress a more conservative and retro vibe, then I cinched my waste with a kate spade bow belt, I choose to use black in order to not distract from the doubled up dots.
I continued my dot fetish with polka dot tights and kept the 50's vibe going with contrasting mary janes, a red lip and a retro hairstyle.
As always, I piled on the bangles and used my florence bag for the perfect color pop!
Since this polka dot print is so simple and classic, I like to pair it with other, bolder patterns like this vintage black&yellow jacket!
