The Striped Crop Top

I know I have been over dosing on stripes lately, and that you are probably so sick of it! I went to an event earlier this week and met a PR pro that I had been corresponding with for a few weeks now via email ... the first thing she said to me was "you're not wearing stripes?!". Then I knew the obsession had maybe gotten a wee bit out of control. I promise I'll try and scale back the stripes, especially this striped crop top, but I can't say goodbye to them entirely since they are quickly become one of my signatures (in addition to my red lip of course).

Anyways before I start switching out my stripes for other patterns, I'm determined to get you all abroad the striped crop top train by sharing
10 ways to wear a striped crop top!

Bumble Bee

I've been wearing black & white stripes non-stop lately, seriously, non-stop. There are all these rules about black & white stripes: horizontal ones make you look chubs, don't wear them with orange or yellow, blah, blah blah -- well today I'm breaking those rules, because life is so much better when you dress outside the lines.

Accidentally Audrey

Today's look was accidentally Audrey-Esque. I donned black and white stripes (per usual) and a red lip (of course) and spent a good 30 minutes on my hair (unheard of for this bun-loving-bedhead) before walking my thirty minute morning commute through the sauna that is currently New York City. Upon arriving to my office, I glanced in the mirror to see that my well orchestrated locks had somehow been magically replaced with a wild, frizzy fro -- thanks New York. I didn't panic,  but quickly tossed up my mess of a mane into a undone bun with bird's-nest inspired tendencies. After using up my to "emergency" bobbies, I resulted to a few paperclips that hopefully no one will notice, or miss from the office viola ... Accidentally Audrey.

Bright Striped

So I know I declared this the summer of all white, but that doesn't mean I'm giving up my go-to black and white stripes for the season! So when the opportunity presented itself to combine color with my favorite pattern, I simply could resist.
I saw this skirt at Asos and knew I immediately fell in love with the combination of color and pattern play, but was hesitant about the silhouette. I am usually a fit and flare or full skirt kind of gal and rarely ever slip into a tight, pencil-like skirt, but made an exception for this striped beaut.

Stripey Stroll

Okay, so there might be a chance that my stripe obsession is a wee bit out of control … and maybe this post is the proof. Today Waffles and I stole 5th avenue in non-stop stripes

A Carrie Moment

It's no secret that I'm obsessed with Carrie Bradshaw - she will always be one of my favorite TV fashionistas (along with Blair Waldorf). Carrie changed fashion for everyone and I look to her style almost everyday for inspiration. Every time I twirl through NYC in tulle I think of CB! Today was no different, so I had to share this very, Carrie moment filled with stripes, tulle and of course, stilettos.

Summer Statements

It's official summer - but I'm not yet wardrobe ready, uh-oh!
So today we're talking summer statements and showcasing a few ways to make a big splash with your seasonal style!

A Statement Shade
Summer is a fun, and playful season where anything goes! Now's the time to test out those giant cat-eye frames - they'll protect you from the sun while serving as the perfect accessory to spruce up a simple white dress! I double dog dare you to pick a statement shade in a powerful color for two-times the impact! If you're up for the challenge, just remember to tone down the rest of the look by wearing neutrals and simple silhouettes so you don't over do it!
Featuring:
Or you can create your own custom Diamond wedding ring via Anjolee, swoon!

A Statement Skirt
Just like Spring, Midi Skirts are a Summer must! They look fab, work for day or night and help keep you cool in the summer heat. And since flamingos are having a major moment this season (what took us so long), I don't see any reason not to show off your stems in a flamingo printed skirt.

A Statement Print
Big, bold prints work great for summer. Invest in a strikingly printed maxi dress to pair with neutral sandals and matching bag. The end result will be effortlessly chic but still fashion forward and help you make a big summer statement!
Featuring:

A Statement Color
I have never felt the laziness of summer until I moved to NYC. Somedays, it's just too dang hot. I'm from Arizona, so I know heat - but the shorting New York humidity is a whole different animal that drives me bananas! Somedays I just want to throw on a simple skirt or dress and call it a day - that's when a statement color can really come in handy. Instead of reaching for black or white on those too-hot-to-care days, pull on a pink wrap dress, bright blue maxi or orange skirt! These brights will help make a cool summer statement and help hide the fact that you're trying not to melt into a colorful puddle.

The Skort Suit

This summer, I'm skirting, no skorting the rules! It's far to hot for a full suit, so I switched things up with a skorted suit. If that wasn't enough, I'm also adding a pop of pink to brighten everything up!

Non-Stop Stripes

I'm feeling stripey today by twirling through the meatpacking district in the pattern I just cannot stop wearing (or buying) - black and white stripes!

Among the Flowers

Today every things coming up roses … well daffodils? yes, i think those are daffodils - I'm really not sure, I don't know much about other flowers because I'm extremely loyal to peonies and sometimes dabble in gerber dasies…  Anyways, every things coming up daffodils (or something) in my seemingly basic b&w look. But don't fret, there is an element of surprise under this striped trench … so stay tuned!

The Inbetween

Last weekend was a big fat tease! It was 75 and sunny in the city, so I twirled my way through Soho in shorts, did some serious shopping and double dipped on brunch with some equally serious babes… And then came the cold. It snowed, yes snowed on tuesday night. New York, why must you be so fickle?! And what's a girl to do wear this weirdo weather? My spring instincts say skirts but the forecast says Buurrr! I'm forever stuck in the winter/spring limbo, I'm living in-between!

Stripey

I'm playing stripe queen for a day! I said yes to graphic B&W and mixed color blocking with jail-bird stripes for a neutral mix with a twist! I've been feeling a little out of it lately, just overwhelmed and not myself. It's not so fun, but outfits can be the perfect pick-me-up ... and a little pattern play always does the trick!

It's MARCH... so it's supposed to be Spring! But most days it's still too cold to wear skirts without tights ... and after months of doubling up to keep warm I'm SO OVER stepping into them. For this look, I opted for knee high socks instead! They kept me warmish without forcing me to pull on another pair of tights - where are you Spring!?

Pretty in Pink

Although I love tulle and twirl-worthy skirts, super-girly colors aren't usually my thing. But with pastels having such a big moment this spring and again this fall I decided to dabble with this darling MinkPink dress and matching beret.

Spring Stripes

The Secrets out: I'm a sucker for stripes!
Spring into this season in stunning stripes, paired with bright spring basics!

This look is all about working with spring basics: colored pumps, bright studs, a bold bag (it makes the perfect color pop piece), fun bangles and a simple cardigan or jacket.
Saturday, I ventured to the fabulous french market for a relaxing brunch date with my sassy grandmother, amazing mother and bestfriend Dené.
So I thought this look was perfect for this fabulously french affair.
When I think Spring I see bright colors, flirty prints and having fun with fashion!
By pairing stripes on stripes with some spring basics, you too can be stunning for spring.

Case Of The Stripes

I'm afraid I have fallen ill...
They have yet to find a cure for my current condition ... and I hope they never do!

These next few looks will be all about stripes and feature three striped inspired styles. Our first look features one of my favorite dresses, what I like to call "My Barbie Dress". Lets take a peak!

I remixed my "barbie dress" by layering it over a black and white long sleeve to shield me from the cold weather.
I also added a leopard belt to mix patterns and add some edge to a very girlie look.
Shirt: B&W striped long sleeve, H&M. Dress: Pink tulip dress, Zara spring 2011. Belt: Calf-hair leopard skinny belt, Express. Tights: Black, Capezio. Shoes: Mary Janes, Jessica Simpson. Jewelry: Idom Bangles, Kate Spade & All Wrapped Up ring/earrings, Kate Spade.

This second Case Of The Stripes look is just peachy, with bold punches of some of my favorite colors for spring: cute corals and pretty pops of peach!
