 today we're taking a look back at one of my favorite birthday celebrations of all time... my mad hatter tea party brought to you as part of my party planning segment: hopeless hostess!

it's my birthday week, so we're celebrating all week long on color me courtney, yay!

i love to plan parties and give gifts... to other people! but when the tables are turned, it's hard for me to sit back and receive (i think it's a weird controlling thing!) so i'm kicking off this week by celebrating all of by giving away one of my go-to earring styles!

the lucky winner will get to pick their gift from two kate spade options: a new pair of coral gumdrop studs or a fresh pair of gold "all wrapped up" bow studs!

next week is my birthday week (yay?) i'm not super excited because i'm turning 23, and it's kind of a lame-ish birthday but i am excited to celebrate all week long on color me courtney, starting with sharing my bday wish list...

i'm dying for a pair of tortoise karen walkers (i have the black but keep wishing they were tortoise for summer!) a new camera (mine's an oldie, i'm looking at the cannon rebel eos! any thoughts,opinions or reviews on this guy? please share!) and a record-player/turn-table for my living room!

A while back, I had the pleasure of styling my beautiful bestie Dené (a gorgeous model who takes the most stunning pictures) in a coney island inspired photoshoot by Liquid Shutter. The shoot was inspired by one of my favorite music videos Cool by Gwen Stefani in combination with a fabulous Coney Island Engagement photo shoot that is beyond adorable! the humidity has been awful, so i'm now just embracing my natural frizz and trying to make it work! i sleep with my hair in bun(s): one for loose waves, two for tighter locks and four for the curls; and scrunch the rest in the morning!

it's been crazy hot in nyc, and not the dry heat that i'm used to but a hot, sticky, humid heat. 

i spent last summer in san francisco ("the coldest winter i ever spent was a summer in san francisco" - mark twain) and grew up with dry, arizona summers, so adjusting the nyc heat has been tough on me ... and my hair (hence the curly q's), but it has been fun to create a whole new nyc "summer style"!

4th of july feast

since yesterday was all about flag day flocks (see the full with six 4th of july outfit options post here) today we'll cater to your inner hostess by tackling some simple & easy fourth worthy food options

add blueberries && raspberries to your favorite raspberry lemonade for a refreshing drink! try adding striped paper straws to finish the look! aren't a fan of raspberries, switch them out for strawberries!
