Coat Check w/ Modcloth

It's no secret that i'm a big, giant, colossal, crazy-in-love fan when it comes to the bubbly brand Modcloth (need proof? and have an hour to kill? take a peek at all my featured posts)! To say I'm addicted, would be an vast understatement! They are the perfect blend of classic and quirk, whimsy and wonder, trendy with a twist and I am just beyond obsessed. So when I was received an invitation to participate in their current blogger contest, I jumped for joy ... and today I'm sharing my entry!

Introducing the Call of the Style Coat by modcloth
This coat is as cute as a button, althought it doesn't have any, but it does feature rich toggles, the perfect sized pockets and darling trim that pops! Toss it over flannel for an afternoon picking pinecones or pair it with a LRD (little red dress) for sunday brunch with the girls... the coat is so versatile it can work for any gal or any occasion.
love it already? shop it here

Modcloth assigned me this amazingly adorable piece from their site, and asked me to create a look featuring that item. But being the over-acheieving mod-enthusit I am ... I created three over-the-top outfits to go under this Call of the Style coat :]

The Voracious Reader
This girl may always have her nose in a good book, but is still well read when it comes to style! She cares about comfort but does so with a quirky flair by layering a printed plaid shirt under a graphic tee before slipping into colored skinnies, a low oxford heel and finishing the look with fun gloves and earth tone accessories!

Daydream Believer
This stylish jet-setter is always on the go ... and always to the most fabulous places (even if they are around the corner) She'll spontaneously skip town for the weekend, play hooky to spend the afternoon at her favorite museum and hike with her pug on sunday mornings, even though she usually ends up carrying the little guy (he get's tired). When this weekend explorer finds herself stuck in the same zip code, she doesn't fret by simply escapes with perpetual day dreams of carefree days in colorful Capri and Autumn or evenings on the east coast.

The Chic Geek
Guys make passes at girls who wear glasses! Under this girl's darling coat you'll find an adorkable sense of style. She pairs high socks, lace up shoes and animal prints (no, not the always trendy leopard print, but actual animal prints) in the chicest way! She mixes her matches and pairs patterns like a pro, but also plays with proportion without scarfing her silhouette by slimming her waist with a big brown belt. Her finishing piece? a fox scarf to prove nerds are hot and well, because why not?

Oh and this isn't my first mod-related contest entry, check on out my winning look for the wwzwd X modcloth blogger contest here

Well, that's all for today! I would love to hear which look is your favorite of the three. Until next time, stay fabulous!

Fall Ball

So it's not baseball season anymore, but luckily it doesn't have to be to step out in a stylish baseball team with fall flair!
Top: H&M // Skirt: Modcloth // Jacket: Nordies // Boots: Bacio 61 // Hat: Oakley (Similar here or here) // Belt: Saks // Sunnies: Karen Walkers (black) // Bag: Coach
So I have a confession - I'm crazy obsessed with baseball tee's and lettermen-inspired varsity jackets! Baseball tee's work year around, but this maroon & black pairing is perfect for fall: tuck it into a skirt, add a collar by layering it over a shirt (and add a statement necklace if you're feeling fancy!) or pair it with boyfriend jeans && a lady-like pump for a girlie twist! And don't even get me started on the jackets! Varsity jackets, baseball jackets, lettermen's jackets, or whatever else you want to call them put an instant smile on my face (followed by my high school fight song playing in my ear and fighting the urge to perform the corresponding cheer). Despite my crazy love for them, I have yet to purchase one ... and not for lack of trying! I have been on the look out for one for the past 3 years, but haven't found the one.... but I'm still hopeful! Someday I'll find the perfect bomber to cure my varsity blues

P.S. this is the outfit I wore to the Stylinity launch party .. see the full post here!

Fawn

A few years ago I wouldn't be caught dead in brown and a few months ago I couldn't live without a wrist full of bangles ... but so much has changed since then and my style has evolved along with it. So when I needed a new coat to handle the NY chill (especially since I walk everywhere), I choose a fawn pallet which is coincidentally the same scheme as the four-leg French Man in my life: my frenchie, Sir Waffles!
peplum: h&m // turtleneck: j.crew // basic leggings // Bag: Coach // Sunnies: Karen Walkers (black) // Jewels: Threads // Boots: Bacio 61 // Socks: Zara // Pup: sorry, not for sale :]
I'm an Arizona native, so besides for the few trips to Wyoming over the years to visit family, I've never needed a really good coat ... until I moved to NY. When I first stepped foot in the big apple early last year, I picked up a puffier coat for rainy/snowy days but I've found myself dreading pulling that giant monster of a coat on in the morning and in need of something classic, chic and most of all warm! So after a week of online shopping and a day store hopping in Flat iron and Soho, I think I found the perfect coat.

Shine On

I have a rule to dress by:
when you're ever feeling dull, wear something that sparkles!
I was in no way down when I added sequins to my signature layering, but if I was, a little glitter would have helped to lift my spirits!
Shirt: Banana Republic (40% off right now) // Tee: J.crew (+25% off) (tank version here) // Jeggings: The Limited // Boots: Bacio 61 // Bag: Zara (similar, 50% off!) // Sunnies: Karen Walkers (black) // Jewels: Threads
Have you ever heard of a "Canadian Tuxedo"? apparently it's when you pair a denim jacket with matching jeans (weird... I know). Anyways, I gave the Canadian Tuxedo a Color Me Courtney make over by adding a bold lip, bright bag and a little bit of sparkle! I also stuck to simple jewels and my statement sunnies to complete the look.
Oh and speaking of sparkle, I was recently choosen to host the first ever My Threads Party by The Shine Project! My friends showed up in sparkle for sips, snaps and a little bit of shopping; and today I'm sharing the highlights!

Stylinity

Blogger events are always a blast, but celebrating the launch of an innovative social sharing site with some of the most amazing people and a styling icon (here's a hint: ever heard of the TV show What Not To Wear) can make for a night to remember! Last week Paris and I had the honor of attending a Stylinity event to test out the Stylinity Stage and participate in what I believe to be the future of shopping in our social media driven society!
As some of you may know, I'm a marketer by trade and a bit of a branding fanatic! So when I heard about Stylinity who brings combines turns costumers into brand champions, combines branding with fashion and shopping, and brings all of these aspects into a social setting to provide users with "The Ultimate Selfie Experience" I absolutely had to test it out! Here's how it works.
Say goodbye to those bland dressing room pictures that flood your friends cellphones every time you're in need of a second opinion. The style stage provides fashionistas with the perfect lighting and lens to create a high-quality share-worthy picture for you to show off you newest splurge!
Stylinity has two stages: the smaller and "New York" friendly style stage (above) and the larger 360 style stage (below). I got to test out both of these innovative shopping spots at the event and they each have their perks! Do to size and customer preferences, you're most likely to see these sleek little guys (above) at a featured store.
One of the many highlights of the night included meeting Stylist, Fashion Consultant, Magazine Editor, Author and star of TLC's What Not To Wear, the one and only: Stacy London!
